Equity market Summary

Market indexes (BRVM Composite & BRVM 10) ends with a negative performance (w/w). At the end of this week’s session, BRVM Composite index decreased by 1.49% at 193.59 points recording a negative annual performance so far at 18.72%. The BRVM 10 index is down by 1.33% at 184.14 points and in overall still down by 14.40% from the start of the year. The total market value of shares traded this week was at XOF 1 093 430 851. Moreover, this week’s volume traded was 847 077 shares against 808 419 shares last week.

The market breadth was negative (w/w) with 6 gainers and 26 decliners. At the sector level, Infrastructure index was the best performer, growing by 4.78% at 46.66 points and the Packaging index knew the strongest drop (-4.63%) at 31.33 points.

The worst performances of the week were recorded by:

FILTISAC CI (8.20%) which present the most substantial drop of the week, it's established at XOF 2 295. With a decrease of 6.09%, BOA NIGER (XOF 3 700) collapse the performance of the Banking & Finance index, which declined by 6.09%. This week, SMB CI fell by 5.76% at XOF 17 000. At this trading session, BICICI recorded a loss of 5.49% to reach a price of XOF 4 300. Finally, BOA MALI (XOF 2 230), with a contraction of 4.90%, remains in the bad trend engaged since several weeks now.

The best performances of the week were recorded by:

CIE CI (+6.96%) shows the strongest increase with a closing price of XOF 1 690. SAPH CI (+6.19%) sees its value evolve from XOF 2 825 to XOF 3 000 this trading session. For the second consecutive weeks, CFAO CI (3.45%) grew to reach a value of XOF 600. After the bad performance observed last week, SODECI (XOF 3 700) increased by 2.64% this Friday. Finally, ONATEL BF with an improvement of 2.34% returned to a positive trend in closing this list at XOF 3 710.

 

Bond Market Summary

The bond market ended this week with an increase of 0.05% at XOF 3 292.94 billion against XOF 3 291.24 billion last week. The reason for this growth is mainly due to the gain of XOF 50 on the price of the bond “SUKUK ETAT DU SENEGAL 6.00% 2016-2026”. The total value traded on the market amounts to XOF 767 700 784 for 100 220 bonds traded. The bond “TPBJ 6.50% 2017-2027” with 36 607 bonds for XOF 362 416 793 was the most liquid, representing 47.21% of the total value traded.
