Market Commentaries

 

  • Equity market Summary

 

Market indexes (BRVM Composite & BRVM 10) ends with a negative performance (w/w). At the end of this week’s session, BRVM Composite index decreased by 1.40% at 190.77 points recording a negative annual performance so far at 19.91%. The BRVM 10 index is down by 0.83% at 183.66 points and in overall still down by 14.62% from the start of the year. The total market value of shares traded this week was at XOF 1 391 221 955. Moreover, this week’s volume traded was 596 044 shares against 506 643 shares last week.

 

The market breadth was negative (w/w) with 5 gainers and 31 decliners. At the sector level, Distribution index was the best performer, growing by 2.08% at 31.24 points and the Tobacco index knew the strongest drop (-10.67%) at 22.35 points.

 

The worst performances of the week were recorded by :

 

BOA SENEGAL (-16.67%) and BOA CI (-11.76%) which present the most substantial drop of the week, recorded respectively at XOF 2 000 and XOF 3 000. VIVO ENERGY CI lost 11.11% at XOF 800 and continues its negative cycle engaged since several weeks now. SITAB CI falls by 10.67%, to close at XOF 1 590. Finally, BOA NIGER with a price of XOF 3 595, induce the low performance of Banking & Finance Index in decrease of 1.5 point.

 

The best performances of the week were recorded by :

 

BICICI (+16.17%) shows the strongest increase with a closing price of XOF 4 670. BERNABE CI (XOF 2 500) rose by 8.93% for a total amount traded on the week of XOF 3 532 425. SAPH CI grew by 4.53 % to reach XOF 3 000. After the bad performance observed last week, CFAO CI (XOF 600) evolved by 0.84% this Friday and pushes up by 0.42% the Automotive and Equipment suppliers index. Finally, SUCRIVOIRE with an improvement of 0.50% closed this list with a price of XOF 1 000.

 

 

  • Bond Market Summary

 

The bond market ended this week with a decrease of 0.10% at XOF 3 286.90 billion against XOF 3 290.21 billion last week. The reason for this down is mainly due to the partial reimbursement of capital of the bond “BIDC EBID 6.50% 2014-2021”. The total value traded on the market amounts to XOF 380 308 400 for 38 031 bonds traded. The bond namely “TPCI 5.99% 2015-2025” with 20 150 bonds for XOF 201 500 000 was the most liquid, representing 52.98% of the total value traded.
