Market Commentaries

 

  • Equity market Summary

 

Market indexes (BRVM Composite & BRVM 10) ends with a negative performance (w/w). At the end of this week’s session, BRVM Composite index decreased by 0.75% at 175.27 points recording a negative annual performance so far at 26.42%. The BRVM 10 index is up by 0.21% at 169.64 points but in overall still down by 21.14% from the start of the year. The total market value of shares traded this week was at XOF 3 385 970 058. Moreover, this week’s volume traded was 842 924 shares against 2 431 416 shares last week.

 

The market breadth was negative (w/w) with 15 gainers and 27 decliners. At the sector level, Edition Publication index was the best performer, growing by 11.54% at 110.25 points and the Cables index knew the strongest drop (-5.24%) at 36.02 points.

 

The worst performances of the week were recorded by:

 

VIVO ENERGY CI (-13.00%) which show the most substantial drop of the week, it’s recorded at XOF 870. This week BOA BENIN (-8.85%) saw its value stand at XOF 3 400. The stock remains in negative trend. At this trading session, NESTLE CI progressed from XOF 980 to XOF 895, inducing a 8.67% drop. With a sixth consecutive week in the red, PALM CI fell by 8.33% to close at XOF 2 090. Finally, BOA NIGER (XOF 3 490) decreased by 8.16% inducing the bad performance of Banking & Finance index which lost 0.77 point.

 

The best performances of the week were recorded by:

 

SOGB CI (+24.69%) shows the strongest increase with a closing price of XOF 2 500. At this trading session, CIE CI (XOF 1 510) with an increase of 14.50%, pulled up (+11.11%) the performance of the Infrastructure sector index. Recording a second consecutive week of growth, NEI CEDA CI (XOF 145) for a rise of 11.54%, seems begin a good trend. This Friday, SODECI grew by 7.81% to reach XOF 3 450. After the low performance recorded last week, SAFCA CI (+7.20%) returned to growth and closed this list at XOF 5 360.

 

  • Bond Market Summary

 

The bond market ended this week with a decrease of 0.05% at XOF 3 334.18 billion against XOF 3 335.87 billion last week. The reason for this down is the loss of XOF 150 on the price of the bond “TPCI 6.00% 2016-2028”. The total value traded on the market amounts to XOF 1 002 477 462 for 100 271 bonds traded. The bond namely “TPCI 6.25 2017-2029” with 100 000 bonds for XOF 1 000 000 000 was the most liquid, representing 99.75% of the total value traded.
