Market Commentaries

 

  • Equity market Summary

 

Market indexes (BRVM Composite & BRVM 10) end the week with a mitigated performance (w/w). At the end of this week’s session, BRVM Composite index fell by 1.86% at 174.50 points. Nevertheless, its annual performance has improved by 1.61% to reach P/E of 10.69.

 

The total market value of shares traded this week was at XOF 1.004 billion. Moreover, this week’s volume traded was 1 358 694 shares against 3 202 422 shares last week. The market breadth was negative (w/w) with 29 decliners against 9 gainers and 7 shares unchanged.

 

At the sector level, “Edition Publication” was the best performer, growing by 6.52% at 372.57 points and the “Tobacco” knew the strongest drop (-12.50%) at 14.76 points.

 

The worst performances of the week were recorded by:

 

SITAB CI which show the largest drop of the week (-12.50%) to XOF 1 050. BOA BF decreased by 11.21% to stand at XOF 4 395. At this trading session, AIR LIQUIDE CI (XOF 400) showed a loss of 11.11%. SICABLE CI recorded a drop of 8.68% to reach a price of XOF 1 000. ECOBANK CI (XOF 3 340) ends this downward ranking with a slip of 7.09%. This underperformance follows the publication of its 2018 results (net income declined by 22%).

 

The best performances of the week were recorded by:

 

SOGB CI is at the top of the week's rankings. The stock boosted by 12.50% to XOF 2 700. With an up by 6.52%, NEI CEDA CI (XOF 490) raises the index for the Edition Publication sector (+22.81 points). This Friday, TOTAL CI (XOF 1 500) gained 4.90%. Since the publication of its 2018 results (net income grew 52%), SERVAIR ABIDJAN CI (+4.70%) recorded a second consecutive week of increase, closing at XOF 1 670.  Finally, CIE CI return to growth, with an improvement of 3.75% to XOF 1 245.

 

  • Bond Market Summary

 

The bond market ended this week with a slight increase by 0.02% at XOF 3 479.15 billion against XOF 3 478.49 billion last week. The reason for this up is the gain of XOF 25 on the price of the bond issue called “TPCI 5.90% 2016-2026 A”. The total value traded on the market amounts to XOF 129.71 million for 13 091 bonds traded. The bond “TPCI 5.99% 2015-2025” with 5 082 bonds for XOF 50.82 million was the most liquid, representing 39.18% of the total value traded.
