Market Commentaries

  • Equity market Summary

This week, market indexes (BRVM Composite & BRVM 10) are recorded a good performance (w/w) after several weeks in red. At the end of this week’s session, BRVM Composite index up by 0.74% at 157.08 points. Nevertheless, its annual performance is remains mitigated by 8.53% to reach P/E of 9.91.

The total market value of shares traded this week was at XOF 1.761 billion. Moreover, this week’s volume traded was 830 649 shares against 169 629 shares last week. The market breadth was ascending (w/w) with 17 gainers, 22 decliners and 7 shares unchanged. At the sector level, “Infrastructure” was the best performer, growing by 3.88% at 37.76 points and the “Tobacco” knew the strongest drop (-15.97%) at 14.06 points. 

The best performances of the week were recorded by:

SAFCA CI recorded a strong rise of +13.48% for a closing price of XOF 505. With a transaction total value of XOF 23 547 708, ETI (XOF 19) and BOA BENIN (XOF 3 400) recorded an up of 11.76% and 7.94% respectively. At this trading session, TOTAL SENEGAL reached XOF 1 450 for a 7.41% growth. To end, SETAO CI reached XOF 180 for an improvement of 5.88%.

The worst performances of the week were recorded by:

SITAB CI showed the largest drop of the week (-15.97%) to XOF 1 000. The stock AIR LIQUIDE CI (-10.26%) remains in a negative trend and close at XOF 350. At this trading session, UNIWAX CI fell by 8.88% to stand at XOF 2 000. The deterioration observed on CFAO CI (-3.51%), has induced the low performance recorded by the Automotive Suppliers Index. Finally, SOLIBRA CI declined by 6.95% for a closing price of XOF 32 250 against XOF 34 660 last Friday. 

  • Bond Market Summary 

The bond market ended this week with a slight decrease by 0.06% at XOF 3 695.58 billion against XOF 3 697.66 billion last week. This down is mainly due to the partial reimbursement of capital of the bond “CRRH-UEMOA 6.10% 2012-2024”. The total value traded on the market amounts to XOF 63.56 million for 7 787 bonds traded. The bonds “TPCI 6.00% 2016-2028” with 3 015 bonds for XOF 29.55 million and “TPCI 6.55% 2014-2022” with 1 515 bonds for XOF 15.15 million were the most liquid, representing 46.49% and 23,84% respectively of the total value traded.
