Market Commentaries

 

  • Equity market Summary

 

This week, market indexes (BRVM Composite & BRVM 10) recorded a bad performance (w/w). Indeed, at the end of this week’s session, BRVM Composite index lost 1.22% to stand at 155.26 points. Also, its annual performance is remains low at 9.59% for a P/E reached 9.99.

 

The total market value of shares traded this week was at XOF 1.024 billion. Moreover, this week’s volume traded was 2 249 330 shares against 3 896 792 shares last week. The market breadth was ascending (w/w) with 15 gainers, 19 decliners and 12 shares unchanged. At the sector level, “Tobacco” was the best performer, growing by 3.26% at 13.36 points and the “Transport” knew the strongest drop (-3.45%) at 33.20 points.

 

The worst performances of the week were recorded by:

 

BICI CI showed the largest drop of the week (-9.51%) to XOF 3 710. With a decrease of 8.09%, FILTISAC CI recorded a closing price of XOF 1 250. In decline since the beginning of August, BOLLORE CI (-6.77%) closed at XOF 1 445. By evolving from XOF 2 405 last Friday to XOF 2 260 this Friday, SIB CI (-6.03%) reduced the performance of the Banking & Finance sector index which down by 0.8 point. Finally, at this trading session, ETI fell by 5.88% to stand at XOF 16.

 

The best performances of the week were recorded by:

 

CIE CI and SICABLE CI recorded a same boost of 5.56% for closing prices of XOF 1 425 and XOF 950 respectively. Compared to the previous week, CFAO CI stood at XOF 495 for a 5.32% improvement. SITAB CI (XOF +3.26%) which reached a price of XOF 950, return to growth after its low performance observed the last week. Finally, CROWN SIEM showed a value of XOF 185 for an up of 2.78%.

 

  • Bond Market Summary

 

The bond market ended this week with a slight decrease of 0.01% at XOF 3 750.69 billion against XOF 3 750.97 billion last week. This down is mainly due to the partial reimbursement of the bond “CRRH-UEMOA 6.10% 2012-2022”. The total value traded on the market amounts to XOF 14.7 million for 1 497 bonds traded. The bond “TPCI 5.85% 2014-2021” with 1 000 bonds for XOF 10 million was the most liquid, representing 68.02% of the total value traded.
