Market Commentaries

 

  • Equity market Summary

 

This week, market indexes (BRVM Composite & BRVM 10) recorded a bad performance (w/w). Indeed, at the end of this week’s session, BRVM Composite index lost 1.52% to stand at 148.85 points. Also, its annual performance is remains low at 13.32% for a P/E reached 9.84.

 

The total market value of shares traded this week was at XOF 1.68 billion. Moreover, this week’s volume traded was 897 434 shares against 1 679 795 shares last week. The market breadth was descending (w/w) with 18 decliners, 14 gainers and 14 shares unchanged. At the sector level, “Edition Publication” knew the strongest drop (-5.77%) at 186.28 points and the “Automotive Suppliers” was the best performer, growing by 5.48% at 14.33 points.

 

The worst performances of the week were recorded by:

 

AIR LIQUIDE CI (XOF 305) which shows the strongest contraction with a down of 8.33%. FILTISAC CI (-8.33%) reduced the performance of the Packaging Index dropped by 2.82%. At this trading session, SAFCA CI decreased by 8.00% to stand at XOF 460. With a closing price of XOF 1 600, SAPH CI (-5.88%) continue its negative cycle engaged since several weeks. Finally, NEI-CEDA (-5.77%) lost XOF 15 to close at XOF 245.

 

The best performances of the week were recorded by:

 

CFAO CI (XOF 445), which return to growth after its bad performance last week, dominates with an increase of 11.25%. At this trading session, TOTAL CI gained 7.20% to reach XOF 1 415. After its low performance observed the previous week, SUCRIVOIRE CI (XOF 650) won 6.56%. For a total trading volume of 41 159 shares, PALM CI (+5.29%) closed at XOF 995. Finally, BICICI recorded an up of 5.29% for a closing price of XOF 4 000.

 

 

  • Bond Market Summary

 

The bond market close this week with a decrease of 0.48% at XOF 3 841.30 billion against XOF 3 859.74 billion last week. This down is mainly due to the loss of XOF 100 on the price of the bond “TPCI 5.95% 2017-2024 A”. The total value traded on the market amounts to XOF 83.63 million for 8 423 bonds traded. The bond “BIDC 6.10% 2017-2027” with 7 960 bonds for XOF 79.01 billion was the most liquid, representing 94.47% of the total value traded.
