Market Commentaries

 

  • Equity market Summary

 

This week, market indexes (BRVM Composite & BRVM 10) recorded a bad performance (w/w). Indeed, at the end of this week’s session, BRVM Composite index lost 1.70% to stand at 146.32 points. Also, its annual performance is remains low at 14.80% for a P/E reached 9.59.

 

The total market value of shares traded this week was at XOF 1.67 billion. Moreover, this week’s volume traded was 1 719 335 shares against 897 434 shares last week. The market breadth was descending (w/w) with 23 decliners, 7 gainers and 16 shares unchanged. At the sector level, “Textile” knew the strongest drop (-8.16%) at 68.78 points and the “Edition Publication” was the best performer, growing by 4.08% at 193.89 points.

 

The worst performances of the week were recorded by:

 

SOGB CI (-11.11%) which show the most substantial drop of the week, reached a closing price of XOF 1 600. At this trading session, CIE CI (-9.29%) saw its value stand at XOF 1 220. SAPH CI (XOF 1 460) remains in negative trend with under-performance by 8.75%. UNIWAX CI fell by 8.16% to close at XOF 1 800. Finally, SOLIBRA CI (XOF 38 000) decreased by 7.32% inducing the bad performance of Food & Beverage index which lost 0.98 point.

 

The best performances of the week were recorded by:

 

BICI CI (+14.13%), which recording a second consecutive weeks of growth, showed the strongest increase for a closing price of XOF 4 565. After its low performance observed the previous week, FILTISAC CI (XOF 1 155) won 5.00% this Friday. With a gain of +4.08%, NEI CEDA CI (XOF 255) renew to a positive performance. For a total trading volume of 4 191 shares, AIR LIQUIDE CI (+3.28%) reached XOF 315. Finally, BOA NIGER recorded an up of 3.03% to stand at XOF 3 400.

 

 

  • Bond Market Summary

 

The bond market close this week with an increase of 0.05% at XOF 3 843.20 billion against XOF 3 841.30 billion last week. This up is mainly due to the gain of XOF 10 on the price of the bond “TPCI 6.25% 2017-2029”. The total value traded on the market amounts to XOF 179.18 million for 17 988 bonds traded. The bond “TPBF 6.50% 2017-2024” with 15 000 bonds for XOF 150 billion was the most liquid, representing 83.71% of the total value traded.
