Market Commentaries

 

  • Equity market Summary

 

This week, market indexes (BRVM Composite & BRVM 10) recorded a good performance (w/w). Indeed, at the end of this week’s session, BRVM Composite index gain 0.53% to stand at 141.77 points. However, its annual performance is remains low at 17.45% for a P/E reached 9.37.

 

The total market value of shares traded this week was at XOF 3.27 billion. Moreover, this week’s volume traded was 2 337 303 shares against 706 169 shares last week. The market breadth was ascending (w/w) despite of 21 decliners, 15 gainers and 10 shares unchanged. At the sector level, the “Telecommunication” was the best performer, growing by 3.41% at 47.71 points and “Edition Publication” knew the strongest drop (-19.05%) at 129.26 points.

 

The best performances of the week were recorded by :

 

SOGB CI (XOF 2 050), which after the publication of its third quarter 2019 activity report, recorded the strongest performance of the week with push of 18.84%. SERVAIR ABIDJAN (+9.05%) returned to growth with a closing price of XOF 1 205. At this trading session, SOLIBRA CI, whose price rose from XOF 38 850 to XOF 41 760, stood at 7.49% improvement. With a volume traded of    88 697 shares, ONATEL BF (XOF 2 895) increased by 7.22% over the reference period. Finally, TOTAL SN (XOF 1 280) ended the week at 6.67% up.

 

The worst performances of the week were recorded by :

 

NEI CEDA (XOF 170) which shows the most substantial drop of the week, collapsed of 19.05%. SICABLE CI declined by 17.20% to XOF 650 and drove Cables sector index down by 2.48 points. BERNABE CI (-10.55%) recorded a third consecutive week of decline to close at XOF 890. At this trading session, SODECI fell by 9.48% and stood at XOF 2 625 against XOF 2 900 last Friday. Finally, VIVO ENERGY CI decreased by 7.79% to reach XOF 710.

 

 

  • Bond Market Summary

 

The bond market closed this week with a slight decrease of 0.0036% at XOF 4 018.77 billion against XOF 4 018. 91 billion last week. This down is mainly due to the loss of XOF 75 on the price of the bond issue “TPCI 6.55% 2014-2022”. The total value traded on the market amounts to XOF 552.41 million for 55 267 bonds traded. The bond “TPBF 6.50% 2017-2024” with 50 087 bonds for XOF 500.82 billion have been the most liquid, representing 90.66% of the total value traded.
