Shoptalk Europe Investment Takeaways; Catching Up Will Only Get Harder

Key themes and investment takeaways from three day trade show and conference in Copenhagen.  The event featured key note talks by executives from technology companies including GOOGL, EBAY, AMZN, retailers including Hudson's Bay and Harrod's, successful startups including Casper and Dollar Shave Club and other important companies in the retail ecosystem including Westfield Shopping Centers and Li & Fung.  In addition, we attended numerous plan discussions and networking events and spoke with executives and employees of dozens of small and mid-sized technology, logistics and retail companies.  Key takeaways include consumer trends, sector specific top-down recommendations, our updated take on the meaning of AMZN's purchase of WFM and a selection of retail companies that we believe are positioned to win in the new environment.
