Macro: Short Version COVID-19 Economic Update CEE: More restrictions amid record high cases numbers

This shorter version of our slide deck gives you an updated overview of restrictions and economic, fiscal and monetary measures in Central, South Eastern and Eastern Europe (CEE) and Austria. The data is collected by Raiffeisen RESEARCH analysts based in CEE countries and in Austria and is biweekly updated.?

Recent developments:?
- New cases: Deterioration in the whole CEE region with situation particularly worse in CE where the pandemic is spreading mostly countrywide as opposed to clusters during the summer. ?
- Responses: SK and CZ now in mini lockdown with several other countries reimposing restrictions. Schools are closed in CZ, restaurants in CZ and SK, most countries introduce mandatory masks now also outdoors and restrict mass events.?
- Special Focus CE: please see our special slides (10-12) on the situation in CE also compared to other countries outside CEE region. We look at health sector capacity as a major factor for imposing lockdowns while statistics point there is still room in terms of capacity, the pace of deterioration is worrying as well as problems with medical staff, not only beds.?
