Turkey Wake-up call: Macro, Political and Equity News, 11th May

BIST climbed 0.99% yesterday as the strength in some industrials made up for the weakness in major banking names. Banks lagged the broader market with the 0.40% loss for their sector index amid some pressure on the two state lenders and ISCTR. ECILC, QUAGR, DOHOL, SAHOL, SISE, DOAS and EKGYO led the non-bank gainers while PGSUS, CIMSA, MGROS, ENKAI, INDES, and Koza Group names stood out among the decliners in the BIST100 universe. Today, our local macro agenda involves the Treasury's cash budget balance for April'22 to be disclosed at 5:30PM local time. We foresee a slightly positive open for the BIST given the supportive mood in global markets this morning. U.S. futures are up c.0.5% in early trades and Asian bourses are almost all trading in the green.
