Turkey Wake-up call: Macro, Political and Equity News, 16th April

BIST ended 0.10% lower yesterday as morning gains were reversed in the afternoon. Banks led by GARAN visibly outperformed the broader market and gained 2.36% on average. PETKM, EREGL, KRDMD, AEFES, ECILC, and TRGYO led the non-bank gainers while FROTO, SAHOL, KRVGD, KORDS, ISMEN, VESTL, and KOZAL were among the weak spots. Coming to the last trading day of the week, our local macro agenda is mostly muted. We foresee a slight positive open for the BIST given similar moves in Asian markets and small gains in lira (USDTRY below the 8.05 mark in early trades vs 8.0679 at yesterday's closing bell).
