Turkey Wake-up call: Macro, Political and Equity News, 18th August

BIST gained 0.44% yesterday as the late afternoon rebound reversed the slight losses during the first half of the day. Banks slightly outperformed with the 0.88% increase for their sector index as YKBNK and ISCTR seemed to catch some bids. KCHOL, TUPRS, ARCLK, TCELL, AKSA, DEVA, and KOZAA topped the non-bank gainers while ENKAI, TAVHL, PGSUS, TRGYO, NETAS, and EGEEN were some of the fewer weak names. We are off to a quiet macro agenda this morning and we anticipate a slight positive open for the BIST given the supportive sentiment abroad. U.S. futures are up a few points and Asian bourses are almost all trading in the green. Lira is flattish with the USDTRY parity hovering around the 8.4350 mark.
