Turkey Wake-up call: Macro, Political and Equity News, 20nd June
BIST climbed 1.93% on Friday, reversing previous day’s losses, with the purchases that strengthened towards the close after a fluctuating course. Banks performed better with a 5.2% gain in their sector index amid strength in YKBNK and AKBNK in particular. Koza Group names, GLYHO, TAVHL, YATAS, TKFEN, and SISE led the non-bank gainers while DOAS, ODAS, ISGYO, EREGL, MAVI, and OYAKC stood out among the decliners in the BIST100 universe. Coming to this morning, our local macro and political agenda are muted. In the week ahead, we will be watching MPC meeting (Thursday), the visit of the Saudi prince and the US Treasury Deputy Secretary. Note that U.S. spot markets will be closed today for a federal holiday (Juneteenth). We foresee a flat start for the BIST given the generally supportive mood in global markets. S&P futures are up 0.2% in early trades, and Asian bourses are moving in different directions.
