Turkey Wake-up call: Macro, Political and Equity News, 20th October, Global Securities

BIST added 0.86% yesterday in a move spearheaded by the 2.52% average gain in banks that had underperformed the broader market for the previous four days. Grocery chains, FROTO, AGHOL, ALARK, AYGAZ, and TURSG topped the non-bank gainers while THYAO, TAVHL, MPARK, ALKIM, and TRGYO were among the few decliners in the BIST100 universe. Coming to this morning, our local macro agenda is mostly quiet. We anticipate a flattish open for the BIST amid mixed signals from global bourses while the lira is a tad stronger (USDTRY at around 9.3040 in early trades vs 9.3169 at yesterday's closing bell).
