Turkey Wake-up call: Macro, Political and Equity News, 27th July

BIST retreated 0.45% yesterday as the pressure on European peers weighed on Turkish stocks alike. Banks were weaker with the 1.82% loss in their sector index amid profit-taking. FROTO, power generation companies, SELEC, DEVA, KOZAA, AGHOL, and MAVI led the gainers in the BIST100 universe while steelmakers, TTKOM, KORDS, HEKTS, YATAS, and OTKAR were among the weaker spots. Today, we have a muted local macro and political agenda. We anticipate a slight positive open for the BIST on the back of the supportive sentiment abroad ahead of tonight's pivotal FED meeting. U.S. futures are up 0.9% in early trades and Asian equity indices are mostly trading in the green.
