Turkey Wake-up call: Macro, Political and Equity News, 6th April

BIST managed to add another 0.64% yesterday in its sixth consecutive day of gains despite some retreat in banks that lost 0.31% on average. BIST100 index climbed to a new high of 2,343 in the afternoon before reversing some of its gains in sync with global peers following the hawkish comments from FED governor Brainard. THYAO, HALKB, ASELS, TKFEN, ENKAI, EKGYO, ODAS, OYAKC, and AKSEN topped the gainers in the BIST100 space while TCELL, GARAN, MGROS, SOKM, GUBRF, TRGYO, NTHOL, and ULKER stood out among the weaker names. Today, we have a muted local macro and political agenda and we will take our cues from global markets for direction. We duly anticipate a slight negative open for the BIST given losses in most major peers. U.S. futures are up a few points in partial recovery of the 0.7-0.9% overnight losses after we left and Asian bourses are mostly trading in the red.
