Turkey Wake-up call: Macro, Political and Equity News, 8th October

BIST inched down 0.11% yesterday after a day of relatively quiet trading in the 1147-1157 range. Banks again underperformed with the 0.87% drop in their sector index. TCELL, HEKTS, ENKAI, ENJSA, GUBRF, ALKIM, SELEC, AKSA, TTRAK, and ARCLK led the non-bank gainers while SISE, CCOLA, MPARK, OTKAR, KRDMD, TMSN, and INDES were among the weaker spots. We have a muted local macro agenda today and we will take its cues from the global peers which are doing better on hopes of a new stimulus package in the U.S., hence we anticipate a slight positive start for the BIST. U.S. futures are up 0.3% in early trades and most Asian markets are trading in the green.
