Turkey Wake-up call: Macro, Political and Equity News, 9th December

BIST added another 1.19% yesterday to close at a new all-time-high, this time driven by the strength in banks that gained 2.04% on average. ISCTR and AKBNK outperformed peers while GARAN fell behind. Aviation stocks, HEKTS, ASELS, EKGYO, AGHOL, TKFEN, BRISA, and ALKIM led the non-bank gainers vs some fewer decliners like BIMAS, ISDMR, KARSN, ODAS, DOAS, AKSEN, and MGROS among the BIST100 constituents. Coming to this morning, our local macro agenda is muted. We foresee another uptick open for the BIST on the back of its recent momentum and some stability in the lira (USDTRY below the 13.68 mark in early going vs 13.7112 at yesterday's closing bell). S&P futures are down a few points while Asian bourses present a mixed picture this morning.
