Turkey Wake-up call: Macro, Political and Equity News, 9th February

BIST increased 0.48% yesterday as the index managed to recover from its early afternoon slump during the last two hours of the session. Banks fared slightly better this time with the 0.85% gain for their sector index amid strength in ISCTR and AKBNK while the two state lenders lagged peers. TUPRS, KCHOL, SISE, TAVHL, KORDS, GOZDE, GUBRF, and SELEC led the non-bank gainer for the day while TCELL, KRDMD, EREGL, ENJSA, ARDYZ, and NTHOL were among the weaker spots. Coming to this morning, our local macro agenda is mostly muted. BIST seems off to a positive open given the upbeat sentiment in global bourses. U.S. futures are up c.0.5% in early trades on top of some 1.0-1.2% overnight gains after we left and Asian equity indices are all trading in the green.
