Mit dem heutigen Spotpreis von $1.730 USD ist Gold seit Dezember um 19% angestiegen und muss weitere 12% zulegen, um sein vorheriges Allzeithoch von $1.923 USD, das vor 9 Jahren im Jahr 2011 markiert wurde, zu übertreffen. Noch beeindruckender ist, dass der Goldpreis in kanadischen Dollar (CAD) seit Dezember um etwa 25% gestiegen ist und bereits seit 9 Monaten über seinem 2011-Hoch gehandelt wird. Zuletzt bei $2.405 CAD, ist eine Unze Gold in Kanada heute 33% mehr wert als bei seinem Hoch im Jahr 2011. Daher konnten einige Senior- und Junior-Goldaktien in letzter Zeit eine gute Performance zeigen, insbesondere solche mit aktiven Projekten in Kanada. Einer davon ist IMC International Mining Corp., dessen Aktienkurs seit Dezember um 160% angestiegen ist.
