Adams Resources & Energy and its subsidiaries are primarily engaged in the business of crude oil marketing, transportation and storage in various crude oil and natural gas basins in the lower states of the United States. The company's business segments are: Crude Oil Marketing, which are engaged in the sale and delivery of crude oil purchased either directly from producers or from others on the open market; and Transportation, which consists of the operations of its wholly owned subsidiary, Service Transport Company, to transports liquid chemicals and, to a lesser extent, dry bulk on a for hire basis throughout the continental United States, and into Canada and Mexico.
