The Company operates principally in South Africa. The Company's segments include Mining, Trading, Property Rental and Investment Holding. The Mining segment is involved in the exploration, benefication and mining of bituminous coal. The Trading segment buys and sells coal to inland customers. The Property Rental segment rents property to other segments within the Company. The Investment Holding segment is the holding company and also acts as a central treasury function. The Company operates through two divisions: Mining and Trading. The Mining Division consists of three mines and a processing plant located in the Mpumalanga province. The Company's Trading Division is made up of five depots and a logistics network covering southern Africa.
