Snaitech superb 4Q17 marks recovery in profitability; credit view upgraded

Snaitech, Italy’s No. 2 slot operator, surprised us with good 4Q17 results whereas those for the rest of the year had been rather weak. Sales gained 5% yoy to €248m while EBITDA soared to €50m against €31m the previous year, representing a 100 bps jump in the LTM margin to 15.3%. The improvement is entirely due to a gradual decrease of the betting payout (winnings paid to players) to 77.6% from 83.4% the previous quarter and 87.8% a year earlier.
