Two Important Announcements from Aspira Women's Health

On October 25, Aspira Women’s Health announced that a poster on its in-development miRNA-based ovarian cancer test was presented at the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Special Conference in Cancer Research: Ovarian Cancer. The poster, titled, “Improving the diagnostic accuracy of an ovarian cancer triage test using a joint miRNA-protein model,” highlighted data showing miRNA’s potential to improve the diagnostic accuracy of non-invasive diagnostic tests. The study showed that the addition of miRNA improved the detection of early-stage ovarian cancers and that diagnostic performance improved even further when using a combination of approaches, including miRNA, proteins, and metadata. These findings were the result of AWH’s collaboration with the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and show the potential for improving ovarian cancer diagnostics by combining AWH’s technology with miRNA. On October 23, AWH announced the establishment of a Clinical Advisory Board, which will provide clinical input and guidance for the development of its portfolio of products. Dr. Leo Twiggs will serve as Chair of the Board. He is currently the Director of Medical Affairs at Aspira Women’s Health. There are three other board members, including Dr. Levi S. Downs, who is currently the Director of Gynecologic Oncology at Park Nicollet Health Services in Minneapolis, MN. He is also the President of the American Society for Colonoscopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP), a member of the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists, and has served on the Board of Directors of many other professional societies. Dr. Nisha Garg is a board-certified gynecologist with advanced surgical training in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS). Dr. Tamika Sea is a member of the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Fellow of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists.
