Announces MDAS Agreement with a Major International Defense Contractor
OPT has entered into a teaming agreement with a major international defense contractor to offer OPT’s Merrows suite of solutions in specific international regions. The partnership aims to improve maritime domain awareness through OPT’s Maritime Domain Awareness Solution (MDAS). The agreement grants the defense contractor exclusive rights to sell MDAS in certain areas. The defense contractor’s capabilities will be strengthened through the integration of OPT’s MDAS suite of solutions. The collaboration aims to enhance maritime security and surveillance by leveraging OPT’s cutting-edge technology and the defense contractor’s extensive expertise in defense, homeland security, and commercial programs. Earlier this month, OPT launched Merrows, a comprehensive MDAS aimed at improving security and surveillance in oceans. Merrows integrates various technologies, including roaming Wave Adaptive Modular Vessels (WAM-Vs) and resident PowerBuoys (PBs) with advanced C5ISR systems. This agreement expands OPT’s market reach for its Merrows solutions through a well-established defense contractor.Ocean Power Technologies is developing and commercializing its proprietary systems that generate electricity by harnessing the renewable energy of ocean waves. The company uses proprietary technologies that convert the mechanical energy created by the heaving motion of ocean waves into electricity. The company's principal product is its PB3 PowerBuoy?, which is designed to generate power for use independent of the power grid in remote offshore locations. It consists of a main hull structure loosely moored to the seabed and surrounded by a floating buoy-like device that can freely move up and down in response to the passage of the waves.
