Water Tower Hour Recap
We hosted Dolphin Entertainment’s CEO Bill O’Dowd on The Water Tower Hour podcast yesterday. O’Dowd discussed his vision for the company: to build a leading PR and influencer marketing business to foster synergistic revenue growth and assist with promoting entertainment content and consumer products in which Dolphin will have ownership stakes. O’Dowd discussed the three leading PR companies under Dolphin’s umbrella: 42West, Shore Fire Media, and The Door. 42West is a leading PR agency that represents entertainment and media organizations, global brands, and leading acting talents. Shore Fire Media focuses on music, promoting talents, and large-scale music festivals and iconic venues. The Door is the leading PR agency in the food and hospitality industry. Dolphin recently merged its two influencer marketing agencies to form the world’s leading influencer marketing agency, The Digital Dept. The Digital Dept. acts as a talent manager for more than 100 leading influencers and helps global brands achieve their business goals through the power of digital influence. Recently acquired Special Projects is a leading special event agency. Along with Viewpoint Creative, a studio focused on producing video marketing and content, it completes Dolphin’s lineup. These companies are sound businesses in their own rights, but they can accelerate their growth through cooperation. While they provide distinct services, they typically target similar clients and can thus benefit from each other’s relationships and cooperate on common projects and engagements. In addition, these businesses will help power Dolphin 2.0. Dolphin 2.0 represents the next step in Dolphin’s growth. Dolphin aims to acquire stakes in digital assets (movies, television, digital programming), live events, and certain consumer products, where Dolphin’s in-house marketing expertise and resources can be used to maximize success rate. Dolphin has a 50%-50% joint venture with IMAX to develop documentaries. A documentary about the Blue Angels is the JV’s first venture. The documentary will be shown on IMAX theaters and streaming rights have already been sold to Amazon Studios. NYC-based Midnight Theater is a state-of-the-art performance venue capable of hosting a wide range of shows, including A-list film and TV premieres. The Midnight Theater will benefit from sharing the same target clients as Dolphin’s other businesses, which should result in optimal utilization.
