Water Tower Hour Recap

We hosted Jaguar Health’s CEO Lisa Conte on The Water Tower Hour podcast yesterday. She discussed the company’s origins, its current product, and its pipeline. Conte founded Jaguar upon her return from a trip climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, where she discovered a plant-based substance that helped to relieve altitude sickness. She then founded Jaguar, which pioneered plant-based therapies to treat severe diarrhea in several subgroups of patients. Jaguar’s current product, Mytesi® (crofelemer), is currently on the market to treat non-infectious diarrhea in adults with HIV/AIDS on antiretroviral therapy. Being plant-based, crofelemer has a very mild/minimal side-effect profile. Crofelemer is also in clinical trials to treat non-infectious diarrhea in oncology patients who are currently on chemotherapy. Conte mentioned that the company is just weeks away from the release of pivotal Phase 3 data in this indication. This would allow for the filing of an sNDA for this indication before year-end or early 2024. Finally, we discussed the commercial market sizes of the HIV/AIDS and oncology/chemotherapy markets. Those interested can listen to the episode on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, as well as our website.
