With oil major BP (BL) providing US$1.5bn for changes in US deferred tax rates, we await the impact on the UK listed mining majors.What BP, Shell and Barclays have shown is if the actual tax rate reduces, the period over which deferred tax is absorbed increases therefore the deferred tax charge must increase.
