Sector Overview - Down but not out

Having plunged in London trading, base metals prices bottomed out in New York and showed some recovery into Asian trade.

The copper price is now down four US cents per pound ($/lb.) at $3.19/lb. having bounced one and a half cents/lb. from its intraday low. Nickel was off ten cents/lb. at $5.65/lb. up fifteen cents/lb. from its low. Aluminium lost one cent to 98.5 cents/lb., up from a 98 cent/lb. low. Lead and zinc didn’t lose as much and bounced pretty quickly, so both are overall unchanged at $1.16/lb. and $1.555/lb. respectively.
