Electric Vehicles - German Auto manufacturers throw money at a problem

The BBC reports from the Frankfort Motor Show that auto major Volkswagen will spend US$84bn over the next decade on electric vehicles, $50bn of that is on lithium-ion batteries. They will offer electric versions of all 300 models by 2030, with 80 launched by 2025.

Elsewhere, Mercedes Benz said it would offer electric or hybrid versions of all cars by 2022 and BMW unveiled its electric Mini.
