An improvement in Q3, but..

Ciments de Bizerte’s Q3 2017 results improved compared to Q3 2016. Moreover, the local sales increased by 39.1% to reach TND18.1m against TND13.3m in Q3 2016. Like the whole sector, the state-owned cement maker is still struggling to export. The cement production increased slightly from 125,000 tonnes to 156,000 tonnes last year. On the other hand, SCB reduced its clinker production by 57% in Q3 2017 following the kiln shutdown during July and August 2017.

A worrying situation

SCB’s Q2 2017 results showed a slight improvement compared to the same quarter in 2016. The local sales increased by 2.6% to reach TND15.1m against TND14.7m in Q2 2016. The export suspension persists in Q2 2017. However, the cement maker increased its Clinker production by 33.5% to 184,600 tonnes. On the other hand, cement production fell by 6.2%. The company’s investments were reduced, falling from TND4.1m to TND0.6m during the same period in the previous year.

Challenging Q1!

SCB’s 2017 results are falling. Q1 2017 sales decreased 11.1% to TND16,585m and there was no export during the first quarter of 2017. The sales of the State-owned cement maker are exclusively made up of local sales . However, the cement production is limited to only 151,133 tonnes, but it is increasing by 0.3% on an annual basis. In addition, clinker production increased by 65.7% to 147,750 tonnes. As for SCB’s capital expenditure, they decreased by 69.2% to TND901th in Q1 2017.
