AAON, Inc. to Host Students and Educators for Tours of New Innovation Center and Plant in Celebration of Manufacturing Day
Program Designed to Expand Knowledge of Manufacturing, Improve Public Perception of Manufacturing Career Opportunities
TULSA, Okla., Oct. 03, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- In celebration of Manufacturing Day, AAON, Inc. will open its doors on Wednesday and Friday to more than 50 students from Webster High School, Glenpool High School and Charles Page High School and their instructors as part of an effort to change people’s perceptions about today’s manufacturing environments and draw attention to the outstanding opportunities that a career in manufacturing can provide. Planned activities include presentations on manufacturing, facility tours of the plant and the new Norm Asbjornson Innovation Center.
Manufacturing Day is an annual national event executed at the local level supported by thousands of manufacturers as they host students, teachers, parents, job seekers and other local community members at open houses, plant tours and presentations designed to showcase modern manufacturing technology and careers.
“There is an increasing demand for highly skilled professionals in the manufacturing sector who can design, program and operate technology,” said Eneida Guerrero, Human Resources Manager, AAON, Inc. “The average age of a manufacturing employee nationwide is 56, and between now and 2020 there will be an unprecedented shortage of skilled workers who will need to be replaced.”
