Accenture Appoints Financial Services Executive Wei Zhu Chairman of Accenture Greater China

Accenture (NYSE:ACN) has hired financial services executive Wei Zhu as chairman of Accenture Greater China, effective Jan. 1, 2018. He succeeds Chuan Neo Chong, who continues to work with Wei Zhu on a successful transition.

As chairman, Wei Zhu leads Accenture’s business and operations in Greater China, which includes locations in Beijing, Shanghai, Dalian, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Taipei.

Wei Zhu joins Accenture from Standard Chartered Bank Private Equity (SCPE), where he was a managing director and served as global co-head of private equity. He led SCPE's investment and operations in Greater China and Northeast Asia and was a member of the bank’s global leadership team and investment committee. Additionally, he served on the boards of directors of several of companies in which SCPE had invested. Prior to joining SCPE, Wei Zhu held managing director roles at CVC Capital and Goldman Sachs Gao Hua Securities Limited. Prior to this, Wei Zhu was a pioneer in China’s management consulting industry. He worked in the management consulting industry with AT Kearney and Roland Berger Strategy Consultants, where he headed the two firms’ China businesses.

“Wei’s tremendous experience throughout Asia – including 30 years in management consulting, private equity, investment banking and industrial management – makes him a great choice to lead our business in Greater China,” said Gianfranco Casati, Accenture’s group chief executive, Growth Markets. “As chairman of Accenture Greater China, Wei will oversee Accenture’s long-term commitment of helping Chinese companies to continuously improve, globalize and expand as well as create jobs in growth sectors such as digital technology and product and process modernization.”

Accenture has been operating in Greater China for more than 30 years and serves a wide variety of clients in the region, from state-owned entities to private enterprises and multinationals.

“With an unmatched scope and scale of capabilities, Accenture is the partner of choice for many of the world’s leading companies, and I am honored and excited to lead its business in Greater China,” Wei Zhu said. “Key areas of focus will be helping our clients drive their innovation and digital transformation agendas – which are critical to growth and competitiveness – and a continued commitment to the development of our people.”

ODDO : Shift to more favourable cycle to ease AI pressure on sector va...

While we do not deny the uncertainties and risks associated with artificial intelligence (pricing pressures, organisational change, etc.), we remain constructive on this issue, given the significant volume opportunities in prospect for the sector with the integration of agentic AI. Moreover, improving growth momentum in 2026 should reduce pressure on sector valuations (discount >30% vs Stoxx 600 vs a premium of 10% four years ago). On this basis, we have upgraded Bechtle (Outperform vs Neutral),...
