Arrow Electronics, Inc. (NYSE: ARW) was awarded with two prestigious honors during the 2018 Business Transformation & Operational Excellence World Summit & Industry Awards.
Best Achievement of Operational Excellence in Technology and Communications: Arrow’s innovative Lean Sigma Drones project took home the top prize in this category. An employee-driven initiative, the project captures high-definition video of warehouse processes from a birds-eye view, which employees review alongside an Arrow Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. Though the project launched in 2016, last year it was taken a step further by mounting 360-degree cameras to high vantage points within Arrow warehouses. The cameras securely capture and feed high-definition process footage to the cloud, so business operations leadership can access it from anywhere.
Since its launch, the project has increased productivity for targeted processes by 56 percent, and reduced 6.8 million walking steps in warehouse operations annually, or the equivalent of 3,400 miles.
Best Achievement in Operational Excellence to deliver Digital Transformation: In this category, Arrow was honored for its Click to Ship process improvement initiative, launched to improve on same-day shipping fulfillment for orders received via Arrow.com. By creating, and successfully executing, a strategic, cross-functional, action-oriented plan to streamline the way data is processed throughout Arrow’s entire e-commerce selling motion, the Click to Ship initiative substantially increased same-day shipping performance in just 90 days.
