American Water Names Eric Palm President of American Water Resources

American Water Works Company, Inc. (NYSE: AWK), the largest investor-owned U.S. water and wastewater utility company, has named Eric Palm as president of American Water Resources. American Water Resources is the company’s homeowner services business, which provides water line, sewer line and in-home plumbing emergency protection programs to 1.6 million residential customers in 43 states.

Palm joins American Water Resources after a successful tenure at Direct Energy, the North American subsidiary of Centrica, a United Kingdom-based, multinational energy and home services company. His most recent role at Direct Energy was as head of the company’s solar operations. He also led several areas of its home service business that involved protection plans, operations, and a customer service call center.

“Eric has more than 25 years of experience, including 13 years in utility home services,” said Deb Degillio, president of American Water Enterprises. “He led the team that launched Direct Energy’s current integrated protection-plan product suite. With his demonstrated success with business growth, sales and marketing, and call center operations, Eric is an ideal fit for this role. We are pleased he has chosen to join our team.”

Palm has also held leadership positions at RLG International, 21st Century Equipment and Mobil Oil Corporation. He is a colonel in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and led units in Germany, Panama and Iraq.
