California American Water to Distribute Turkeys for Operation Gobble

California American Water will distribute 500 turkeys to local non-profits as part of its annual “Operation Gobble” program. The turkeys will be donated to the Monterey County Food Bank, Salvation Army and Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County, who in turn will distribute them to those in need. California American Water employees will volunteer to help serve the annual meal hosted by the Boys & Girls Clubs on the afternoon before Thanksgiving.

"We do our best to support our local community organizations throughout the year especially during the holidays," said California American Water General Manager Eric Sabolsice. "It’s a time when we all reflect on just how fortunate we are and how we might be able to help those in need."

"We value and depend on the support of community partners like California American Water," said Michael L. Jackson, EdD., President & CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County.

Operation Gobble is a joint philanthropic venture between California water companies and non-profits that is set to deliver an estimated 30,000 turkeys to families in need throughout the state this Thanksgiving holiday.

Since 1990, the program has paired the resources of the private and public sectors to benefit those in need. Participating investor-owned water companies, such as California American Water, provide turkeys.

California American Water, a subsidiary of American Water (NYSE: AWK), provides high-quality and reliable water and/or wastewater services to more than 615,000 people.
