The purpose of the mission to Texas this month is to explore technology and business innovation in the state, while focusing on ways to create a closer working relationship between the state and country. Accompanying HRH Princess Astrid throughout the tour will be several key federal cabinet ministers and senior representatives from each of Belgium’s three regional governments, including Deputy Prime Minister Didier Reynders.

By royal decree, HRH Princess Astrid will present the Order of the Crown (Commandeur in de Kroonorde) medal representing an Honorary Distinction to Cinemark’s Founder and Executive Chairman Lee Roy Mitchell. The event, hosted by Barco, will take place on December 6, 2016 at Cinemark Tinseltown 20 and XD in Pflugerville, TX. A strong and growing partnership

Barco and Cinemark share a long, successful history in bringing movies to life with the latest cinema technologies, growing into a strong strategic partnership focused on delivering the optimal moviegoing experience to Cinemark’s patrons. Cinemark’s confidence in Barco was a key milestone in Barco’s history and has helped propel Barco into becoming the global market share leader in digital cinema projection.

Cinemark’s Founder and Executive Chairman, Lee Roy Mitchell, shares Barco’s vision for technology leadership designed to transform the moviegoing experience. “We highly value our relationship with Barco and Belgium. Our collaboration has resulted in some of the most exciting moments in cinema, and enabled Cinemark to achieve excellence in movie exhibition beyond our wildest dreams.”

Since signing an exclusive agreement in 2010 for the roll-out of digital cinema projectors, Barco has outfitted more than 5,500 screens for Cinemark in the United States and Latin America (among its close to 6,000 screens worldwide). The insights of the Cinemark team have played a vital role in Barco building leading world-class cinema technology solutions, with Barco and Cinemark jointly launching many industry firsts: the first commercial laser projector and the global première of Barco Escape.

“In terms of both strategic value and financial importance, our relationship with Cinemark is a shining example of Texas-Belgian business cooperation,” comments Eric Van Zele, Member of the Board of Directors for Barco. “We consider Cinemark to be an integral part of the Barco family and look forward to a bright, ever-expanding future with the company.”

Barco - Q1 worse than expected, reaching the through?

Barco's Q1 was clearly disappointing with sales dropping more than 20% in what luckily is a rather small quarter.Whereas China remains an issue, part of the drop is also linked to the (very) high comparison base combined with destocking at client level, sometimes necessary to be ready for product renewalDespite the tough start of the year, management is confident it will surpass the 14% margin level and sales could still be flat, ie ‘when markets would not deteriorate'We stick to our B...

Barco - Patience is a virtue - 2024 starts slow- M&A?

• 2024 is not expected to start very well, driven by exceptional items, timing of certain events as well as China that is not (yet) rebounding, anti-bribery linked. Hence, we now bank on a Q1 of -14% sales drop from -7% before• Our estimates are fine-tuned slightly on sales and EBITDA to reflect the slower growth in H1 and some operating deleverage effect because of this• Whereas trading is not yet excellent, we believe that the worst is clearly behind and we see some short-term triggers such as...

Barco/Blurred image/HOLD

We have a mixed view on the Barco investment case. We continue to like its strong niche positions for which we see growth potential. At the same time, we fear that trading could be weak before it gets better in the long term, especially given relatively high inventories at Barco's clients. Despite a 20% discount to the historical valuation, we stick to our HOLD rating as we see no short-term catalysts to become more positive. We slightly increase our target price from €17 to €18. The large cash ...
