Balfour Beatty Announces Leadership Appointments in Carolinas

Balfour Beatty has named David Simonton vice president of operations in Charleston, S.C. and promoted Greg Kendrick to vice president of operations in Charlotte, N.C. The leadership appointments in Balfour Beatty’s Carolinas buildings operations align with the company’s continued commitment to investing in talent to meet the needs of its clients in strategic growth markets.

With over 40 years of industry experience, Simonton leads Balfour Beatty’s U.S. buildings construction operations in the greater Charleston area and is responsible for providing leadership across all business units in the market, while maintaining a fervent focus on exceeding client expectations. Over the course of his career, including 25 years at Balfour Beatty and its legacy companies, he has helped pursue, close and deliver more than $1.9 billion in large construction projects. Simonton’s portfolio of work spans the commercial, hospitality, multi-family, healthcare, education, and mission-critical market sectors.

Successfully delivering projects ranging from the Morton Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas to the $500 million Superblock project in Uptown Charlotte, N.C., which included construction of the 1 Bank of America Center, Ritz-Carlton, Founders Hall renovation, and Urban Garden, Simonton’s recognizable project experience delights thousands of patrons each day. In addition to being a relentless ally for job site safety every day, Simonton has a passion for and is involved with American Heart Association.

With over 20 years of industry experience, Kendrick is responsible for overseeing Balfour Beatty’s buildings construction operations in the greater Charlotte area. During his 11 years at Balfour Beatty, Kendrick has developed numerous relationships and formed strong connections with his clients big and small, which have enabled him as a leader in the Charlotte construction market.

Kendrick brings a deep understanding of all facets of the construction process as well as excellent communication skills to ensure project success. This desire to constantly learn and grow has developed Kendrick into a well-established leader on and off site. In addition to his commitment to being a relentless ally for zero harm in the workplace, Kendrick also serves on the executive leadership team for the Greater Charlotte Heart Walk. Kendrick is a graduate of Virginia Tech, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
