Balfour Beatty Announces U.S. Leadership Updates

Balfour Beatty has named David Hodnett senior vice president and chief legal officer for its U.S. buildings operations. The company has also promoted Sonya Roberts to vice president of compensation and benefits for Balfour Beatty’s U.S. buildings and civils operations.

As senior vice president and chief legal officer, Hodnett is responsible for providing legal counsel, supporting business operations, and managing transactions, compliance and general risk for Balfour Beatty’s buildings operations across the nation. Hodnett rejoins Balfour Beatty having previously served the company for 12 years, including four years as general counsel for Balfour Beatty, Inc. and eight years as chief legal officer for the buildings business in the Mid-Atlantic.

Hodnett is a graduate of Virginia Tech with a bachelor’s degree in business finance, and earned his law degree in 1992 from the University of Richmond, T.C. Williams School of Law.

Serving in various human resources roles since joining Balfour Beatty in 2000, Roberts has led several companywide U.S. initiatives in the areas of employee engagement and benefits. In her new role as vice president of compensation and benefits, Roberts is responsible for developing, implementing and leading total reward strategies for the company’s 4,200 buildings and civils employees nationwide.

Roberts is a graduate of South Carolina State University from which she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
