SC Magazine Names Aruba IntroSpect UEBA as Industry’s Finest for Detecting Advanced Cyberattacks

Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company (NYSE: HPE), today announced that SC Magazine, the world’s preeminent publication for cybersecurity professionals, named Aruba IntroSpect as this year’s best product for detecting and stopping increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks due to mobile, IoT, and cloud. These types of breaches have cost global organizations billions along with severely eroding hard-earned customer trust and confidence.

The Aruba IntroSpect machine learning-based User and Entity Behavior Analytics (UEBA) solution received the Trust Award in the “Best Threat Detection Technology” category. Aruba was selected the winner among seven finalists by a panel of veteran private and public sector security professionals. The award announcement was made at the 22nd annual SC Awards gala, held in conjunction with opening day of the RSA Security conference in San Francisco, the industry’s largest cybersecurity event.

UEBA is an emerging threat detection technology that uses sophisticated machine learning to help security professionals in identify unknown and undefined threats from within the enterprise. As organizations adopt mobile, IoT, and cloud technologies, UEBA has become an effective tool for dealing with threats inside the perimeter.

“The Trust Award category is one of the most highly anticipated designations at the SC Awards ceremony because it represents the voice of the people who are really using the products and services,” said Illena Armstrong, VP, editorial, SC Media. “Aruba IntroSpect was chosen as the Best Threat Detection Technology winner for its ability to meet the needs – and exceed expectations – of its customers.”

“As a winner in the Trust Award category, Aruba IntroSpect stands out for its innovative approach to protecting businesses against the ever-changing threat landscape. This is a significant achievement and one that shows Aruba’s dedication to improving the IT security industry as a whole.”

In explaining why judges awarded Aruba as having 2018’s “Best Threat Detection Technology”, SC Magazine editors wrote in an April 18 article: “Like a digital Sherlock Holmes, Aruba's eagle-eyed user and entity behavior analytics (UEBA) solution, IntroSpect, notices tiny anomalies and deviations in network activity that more conventional technologies might miss.”

“IntroSpect uses machine learning-based analytics to automate the detection of attacks, exploits and breaches by keying in on suspicious behavior that strays from established normal baselines – even if the malicious actions are subtle or take place in incremental steps.”

“The solution leverages over 100 AI-based models to continuously assess risks associated with each user/guest, system and device, as well as identify and remediate threats including phishing, ransomware, lateral movement, data exfiltration, command-and-control communication, account takeovers, privilege escalation and more.”

“Aruba estimates that customers save roughly $45,000 per month and nearly 30 hours per incident by cutting down on investigations. Indeed, customers say they have been able to resolve single incidents in only 10 minutes, compared to 30 hours using traditional methods.”

“Moreover, in 2017, Aruba introduced IntroSpect Standard, a new “fast-start” version of the UEBA solution that requires only three data sources.”

“Aruba’s security business momentum continues to accelerate as enterprises continue to adopt mobile, IoT, and cloud technologies,” said Prasad Palkar, vice president and general manager, for Aruba’s security products. “The SC Magazine award aligns with how customers are now looking at our entire portfolio to deal with advanced threats and attacks on the inside. It is an honor to be recognized by such an elite panel and we look forward to incorporating leading-edge technologies such as machine learning as innovation-drivers to help protect our customer’s critical assets.”
