Navigant Adds Former Banking Regulator to Growing London Office

Navigant (NYSE:NCI) today announced that Robert Dedman has joined the firm as a director of the Global Investigations and Compliance practice, based in the firm’s London, U.K., office.

Dedman has nearly a decade of regulatory experience, and joins Navigant from the Bank of England, where he established and headed the Regulatory Action Division, achieving a number of significant enforcement results. He led the Bank of England’s enforcement relationship with regulators and prosecutors domestically and across the globe, and oversaw the Prudential Regulation Authority’s intelligence and whistleblowing team.

“Robert Dedman adds significant regulatory expertise and experience in global and British banking to Navigant’s Global Investigations and Compliance practice,” said Ellen Zimiles, head of the firm’s Financial Services Advisory and Compliance segment and the Global Investigations and Compliance practice leader. “We look forward to bringing Robert’s unique perspective and experience, which includes implementing so much of the current structure of the U.K. regulatory system, to Navigant’s clients.”

Prior to joining the Bank of England, Dedman led the legal team at the Financial Services Authority responsible for the reforms that led to the creation of the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority. During his time at the regulator, he also advised on financial crime-related issues, including the operation of the U.K. Money Laundering Regulations and the supervisory impact of law enforcement investigations.

Dedman has spent his career immersed in the City of London’s Financial Services industry and the workings of the courts and tribunals. He also brings with him a senior regulator’s perspective on the supervision of major financial institutions, along with significant expertise in investigations.

Robert holds a BSc in French and Law from The University of Surrey, an LL.M from King’s College London, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the College of Law, Guildford. He has thirteen years’ experience as a practicing lawyer in the U.K., and is an Accredited Mediator.
