Northern Trust Wealth Management Announces Texas Leadership Succession

Northern Trust (Nasdaq: NTRS) announced today that Jeffrey Early is retiring as Wealth Management President of Texas, with Colter Lewis being tapped to oversee Northern Trust’s Texas markets going forward.

“A prominent figure across the Texas market, Jeff has made an invaluable contribution to expanding our client base, product capabilities and legacy in the region,” said Steven Bell, President of the West Region at Northern Trust. “I express my sincere appreciation for his remarkable contributions and dedicated service.

“We are delighted to welcome Colter into an expanded role in Texas,” Bell continued. “His vision, creativity and regional experience will attract global, sophisticated investors to Northern Trust Wealth Management, building on the state-wide success that the team has established and continues to garner.”

Lewis assumes his new role in Texas with more than 22 years of experience delivering wealth management, investment advisory and private banking services. Beginning his career as a financial advisor, he joined Northern Trust in 2005 as a Wealth Advisor. Lewis was promoted to Managing Director in 2008 and was named Houston President in 2013, succeeding Early in leading the wealth management and private banking services in Houston and the surrounding gulf coast area.

Early has been with Northern Trust for 40 years. In addition to his role as Texas President, he served on several Wealth Management leadership committees, including the Executive Leadership Team, the West Region Leadership Group, and the Wealth Management Operating Group. Early joined Northern Trust in 1978 upon graduation from Purdue University and performed various leadership roles in commercial banking, mortgage lending and as head of retail banking. In 1991, he moved to Houston to assume the position of Managing Executive of Northern Trust’s private banking and wealth management business.

Early’s involvement in Texas extends beyond his roles at Northern Trust to a range of community organizations. His current board membership includes The University of Texas Medical School, Boy Scouts of America, Coronado Club and the Salvation Army.

Lewis will maintain his position as Houston President while taking on the expanded Regional Managing Director role. Mark Flagg, Dallas President, Jeff King, Fort Worth President, and Ronnie Powell, Austin President, will report directly to Lewis. All changes are effective June 1, 2018.

Lewis is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER (CFP®), earned his Certified Private Wealth Advisor (CPWA®) designation from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business and his Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designation from The American College of Financial Planning. He holds a B.B.A. in Accounting from Abilene Christian University. Lewis serves on various boards and organizations including YPO, Vistage, the Financial Planning Association, Houston Estate & Financial Forum and Houston Business & Estate Planning Council.
