Regions Bank today announced that Ada Gardner, a Regions branch manager in East Point, Ga., is the October 2016 recipient of the Regions Bank Better Life Award. The Better Life Award is the top honor given to a Regions associate for outstanding dedication and job performance as well as exemplary involvement and commitment to the community.

Gardner is a conqueror. She faced many challenges in her early life, including becoming a mother of two by the time she was 15. Devoted mentors helped Gardner rise above her circumstances to become a success. This experience drives her to give back today.

Gardner has published two books on empowerment and founded the group Something About Sistahs to provide one-on-one support and opportunities for struggling women to improve their situations and find happiness.
Gardner also serves as a keynote presenter for Woman University, a 10-week enrichment program run several times a year by Marvelous Light Empowerment Association, an Atlanta-area nonprofit organization that provides women with tools to improve their self-esteem, to maintain a stable family and to manage their finances and career.
“We challenge them to identify the things that are hindering them from their dreams,” Gardner said. “Then, they present their ideas before a ‘Dream Tank’ of successful women who critique them and help them map out a spiritual, educational and financial plan to get there.”
