Freaks and terror reign during Six Flags St. Louis' annual Fright Fest. Family fun highlights the daylight hours; but six haunted mazes, Halloween themed shows, multiple Scare Zones and swarms of freaks rule the night. Fright Fest takes place September 30 through October 30 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. (Photo: Business Wire)

New Frights

Fright seekers can now battle demonic creatures as Rage of the Gargoyles, the world’s first fully-integrated Virtual Reality (VR) gaming coaster experience featuring Samsung Gear VR powered by Oculus, invades Fright Fest. Riders—wearing Samsung Gear VR headsets— board the Ninja roller coaster and become pilots of an Apache-style helicopter. With a devastated cityscape as the backdrop, a fleet of choppers battles an army of terrorizing, winged monsters. The action-packed adventure begins with riders ascending up the coaster’s lift hill while blood-thirsty gargoyles mercilessly attack the copter’s glass shield. The epic on-screen conflict quickly accelerates as the high-definition imagery synchs perfectly to the coaster’s movements sending riders twisting, turning —flying over battered skyscrapers, plunging underneath twisted bridges and dodging falling debris, all while shooting to conquer the vicious master gargoyle. A surprise ending to this fully-immersive virtual odyssey will leave guests breathless and ready to engage in the Rage of the Gargoyles battle again.*

Also new for Fright Fest in 2016 is the Night Terrors haunted maze. If guests weren’t already afraid of things that go bump in the night, they will be now. Night Terrors preys on guest’s worst phobias as each room brings them face to face with another fear to conquer. This walk-through attraction brings nightmares to life and makes even the strongest fear going to sleep.

Thrills by Day

  • The Dead Beats — These ghouls do high energy drumming on non-traditional instruments.
  • Love At First Fright — A Fright Fest tradition for 23 years, this live musical tells the tale of Witchy’s search for a new brain for her beloved Frankie.
  • The Pumpkin Porch — A Halloween Dance party hosted by the Looney Tunes characters.
  • Macabre Mansion — A magnificently bewitched mansion where kids 12 and under can enjoy story-telling, puppet shows and receive a treat bag on Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Deadman’s Party — A troupe of human puppets perform the dance of the demented.
  • Dreamz Comedy Hypnosis Show — Unsuspecting volunteers are put under a hypnotic spell in front of a live audience.
  • Cornelius’ Hay Maze Fun — A journey of spooky twists and turns just for the little ones.

Fright by Night

  • Freaks Unleashed — Summoned by the Grand Witch during a must see performance, all the freaks arrive aboard the steam train signaling the nighttime terror has begun.
  • Camp Killamore — Orientation is at sundown, but this camp’s activities are a little less traditional and a lot more twisted.
  • Wrecker’s Salvage: Deadly Detour — Those looking for spare parts can take a hayride through this junkyard specializing in bones, limbs and more.
  • Blind Fury — Something demented has taken over the toy factory making it a maze of disorienting hallways, moving doors, vibrating walls and unnerving special effects.
  • Blackout — Surrounded by complete darkness, guests must rely on their sense of touch and hearing to make their way out.
  • The Slaughter House — Blood thirsty savages await in front, behind and even above those who dare to enter and play this gruesome game of survival.
  • Freakout Circus — This freak show includes fire eating, sword swallowing, knife juggling and more.
  • Scare Zones — Unsightly and unsavory characters have claimed the streets as their own. Scare Zones include Vengeful Trolls, Gnawlin’s Hollow, The 7 Deadly Clown Sins, Zombieville and Minions of the Scare-O-Jack.
