Travelers Named to 2016 Dow Jones Sustainability Index

The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) have recognized The Travelers Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TRV) as one of only three property casualty insurance companies on the 146-company North America Index. This is the 10th consecutive year that Travelers has been included in the DJSI.

Launched in 1999, the DJSI were the first global indices to track the financial performance of the leading sustainability-driven companies worldwide. The DJSI are maintained collaboratively by the S&P Dow Jones Indices and RobecoSAM. Companies are selected for the indices based on an assessment of their long-term economic, environmental and social practices. Only companies that lead their industries based on this assessment are included in the indices.

“We have a deep commitment to providing opportunities and creating meaningful differences in the communities in which we live and work,” said Brian MacLean, President and Chief Operating Officer of Travelers. “Being included in the DJSI for a 10th consecutive year is an important distinction for Travelers and a testament to the company’s culture and character.”

Through corporate funding and the Travelers Foundation, the company focuses on supporting academic and career success, developing thriving neighborhoods and enhancing lives through arts and culture. Travelers contributed nearly $23 million to important causes in 2015, and more than $100 million over the last five years. Through the Travelers Institute, the company’s public policy division, Travelers engages in public policy dialogue on matters of interest to the property casualty insurance sector as well as to the broader financial services industry.

In addition, Travelers supports initiatives and actions that uphold environmentally responsible practices and conserve natural resources. All Travelers-owned campuses are ENERGY STAR® certified and undergo an annual recertification process.

The company also emphasizes employee development, a factor in the DJSI assessment, through its classroom programs and workshops, as well as its Diversity Networks, a set of voluntary groups dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment for all employees.

Vermilion Compass: Weekly Equity Strategy

S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 Testing Initial Support In last week's 2/25/25 Compass, we discussed our expectation for near-term downside as the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 (QQQ) displayed several bearish short-term developments.
