VARTA AG Lithium-ion Batteries Remain in High Demand

• Production increase for small lithium-ion batteries on schedule
   
• VARTA AG is also open to discussions on producing large battery cells
   

 
VARTA AG, globally active expert for microbatteries with a market-leading position in hearing-aid batteries and solutions for hearables, wearables, power packs and energy storage, confirms the continuing strong demand for small lithium-ion batteries. The growing market for wireless headsets continues to generate high interest in VARTA's CoinPower brand of lithium-ion batteries.
 
The expansion of the main production facility in Ellwangen is on schedule, and production of small lithium-ion batteries has commenced at the company's Nördlingen site.
 
"On account of the ongoing trend towards ever smaller wireless headsets equipped with more and more features, lithium-ion batteries require a greater energy density. That's generating even more momentum for us," explains Herbert Schein, CEO of VARTA AG.
 
VARTA AG possesses enormous know-how in lithium-ion battery technology, and is thus an attractive partner for research and production technology aimed at large-format cells. In this connection, the enterprise is also studying other application areas that require large lithium batteries. VARTA AG remains in intensive discussions with the relevant market actors, as a framework comprising multiple partners offers the best prospects for success in a project of this type.
