MagMutual Partners with Wolters Kluwer to Provide UpToDate Clinical Decision Support to All Policy Owners

The Health division of Wolters Kluwer, a leading global provider of information and point of care solutions for the healthcare industry, announced today a new partnership with MagMutual Insurance Company, one of the United States’ largest medical professional liability mutual insurers, to provide UpToDate® Anywhere at no cost to all MagMutual policy owners. The new partnership ensures clinicians have access to the most current evidence-based clinical content when making treatment decisions for their patients.

“Many MagMutual policy owners already spend their own money to access UpToDate. They do this to practice safer, better medicine, so we thought we should buy it for them,” said Joe Wilson, MD, FACC Chairman and CEO of MagMutual.

Thanks to MagMutual, policy owners will have anytime, anywhere access to more than 10,500 evidence-based clinical topics written by more than 6,300 experts in 24 specialties, over 9,700 graded recommendations, more than 5,600 drug entries, 30,000 graphics and CME credit tracking, as well as numerous calculators. Policy owners can easily access their complimentary UpToDate subscription through their personal account page on the MagMutual website.

This first-ever partnership with an insurance carrier reflects Wolters Kluwer’s commitment to improving clinical effectiveness by helping organizations across the continuum of care—from hospitals and health systems to insurance companies like MagMutual—deliver optimal care to patients.

“By providing UpToDate to its policy owners, MagMutual is a pioneer among medical professional liability insurance companies,” said Peter Bonis, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Clinical Effectiveness, Wolters Kluwer. “MagMutual stands out for its efforts to equip policy owners with a resource that will help clinicians achieve the best possible outcomes for its patients.”

As a mutual company focused on delivering maximum value to its policy owners, MagMutual has a consistent history of financially rewarding its owners. Additionally, innovative initiatives like UpToDate Anywhere help to keep owners informed, safe, protected and rewarded. In February, MagMutual declared a $25 million policy owners’ dividend, the largest return in MagMutual history, along with a 20% Owners Circle loyalty reward.
