Olympic Steel Announces Management Promotions

Olympic Steel Inc. (Nasdaq: ZEUS), a leading national metals service center, announced that Terry J. Rohde has been promoted to Vice President – Operations, and Matthew A. Grussing has been promoted to General Manager of the Company’s Minneapolis Plate Division.

Rohde began his career at Olympic Steel in 2001 as Operations Manager at the Company’s Minnesota Coil facility. In 2004, he transitioned to Sales Manager at the Chicago Division, where he was subsequently promoted to General Manager in 2008. As General Manager, Rohde also oversaw the start-up of the Company’s third temper mill at its new facility in Gary, Indiana. He was later named General Manager of the Gary operation in 2011.

In 2017, Rohde was promoted to Director of Operations, where he was responsible for facilities and equipment on a Company-wide basis. In that role, he oversaw the implementation of three new lasers at multiple divisions, a facility expansion to house the Company’s new Herr Voss cut to length line in Chicago, and the installation of a new Butech rotary shear for the Company’s temper mill in Iowa.

Rohde earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering from The University of Wisconsin-Stout, and completed the MSCI Strategic Metals Management Program at Washington University. He will continue to report to Andrew Greiff, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.

“Throughout his career, Terry has been instrumental in advancing our Company’s organic growth objectives,” Greiff said. “He has applied his proven skills and ongoing professional development to meet and exceed all responsibilities and projects put before him. In this new position, Terry will manage all Operations Excellence and Quality team initiatives to further enhance operating efficiency.”

Grussing joined Olympic Steel in 2010 and has held a variety of roles with increasing responsibility including Quality Control and both Inside and Outside Sales. He was named Inside Sales Manager in 2015 and, in 2017, he was promoted to his most recent position of Regional Sales Manager for the Minnesota Coil and Plate Divisions.

Grussing is a graduate of Bemidji State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He also earned an A.A.S. degree in Mechanical Design and Engineering from Ridgewater College. He will report to Tom Sacco, Regional Vice President & General Manager.

“Increasing sales of steel plate is an important element of our carbon flat products growth strategy,” Greiff said. “In addition to Matt’s strong engineering background and proven track record with Olympic, his extensive knowledge in fabrication prepares him well for this General Manager position.”
